Twitter for events/social media for recruitment

The last Social Media Surgery Manchester event took place in April (hashtag: #mansms). Local businesses pitched their questions to myself, Chi-Chi Ekweozor, Ian Pettigrew, Adrian Slatcher and Fran Holden relating to the use of social media to generate interest and awareness in events that they are running. You can still access my resulting blog post and the live blog from the event. Ian also cruelly made us commit our thoughts on using Twitter to promote events to video, and here are mine…

The next Manchester surgery will be held on Tuesday 10th May from 5.30 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. discussing ‘Social Media for Recruitment’. You can find out more information and book your place here. It’s free to attend, there is plenty of opportunity for Q&A and whether you are a social media beginner or expert, the discussions are always useful. The panel will consist of myself (@OnlineAStevens) from Graduate Prospects, Ian Pettigrew from Kingfisher Coaching, Carol Maughan from DLA Piper UK LLP, Jess Perriam Online and Radio Content Producer and Matt Hackett from Orchard.

Hope to see you there, but if you can’t make it tweet your questions along with the #mansms hashtag and we will try to answer them on the night and include the answers in the live blog.

  1. Hi Isla – here’s the session we’re including at Youth Marketing Strategy 2011:

‘Big issues in graduate recruitment marketing: expert discussion’
Host Chris Davies of Graduate Coach will be joined on-stage by KPMG, Gradjobs and Phill Lane of Penna to discuss today’s big questions in graduate recruitment marketing.

There will be another recruiter added to the panel shortly and attendees will be able to pitch their questions before the event.

If you need any more info, get in touch.

Hope to see you there 🙂

  2. Thanks Andy, I wish I could attend this but I’m in London. Will try to tweet and watch the blog instead! I’ve volunteered to do a talk next month in a local 6th form college about job hunting using social media, but although my background is recruitment, my knowledge is more relevant to adult professionals than 17-year-old college kids… so it will be a learning experience!

    • Shame you can’t make it, but definitely keep an eye on proceedings and drop us a couple of tweets.
There is a Youth Marketing Strategy Conference (#YMS11) in London on Thurs 16th June that will definitely give you some ideas for your talk!. Follow @reachstudents on Twitter, Luke is organising the event, and find out more info here: http://bit.ly/kllHz0.

  3. Glad you’re finding it useful Jemma. Look forward to seeing you at #mansms tomorrow.
    Thanks
    Andy

  4. Jemma Houghton
